Glen Colm Cille is a treasure.
After driving over the hills, what a wonderful sight when Glen appears on the horizon.
This photograph was taken in Glen of a Dolmen and there are three others beside it (which have seen better days).
Glen is a rural area. They have routed hillwalks, traditional music, and run Irish language classes in the Summer months. They have the highest cliffs in Europe which draw alot of tourists. |
This is a tombstone which stands proudly in a Christian graveyard, and dates back to pagan Ireland, when the sun and moon were our Gods and guides. |
A portaltomb outside Glen. You can see the entrance here, and at the far end of the circular wall there is an alter where the rites were performed.
"A glimpse into the past." |

1IRISHLAD1 Mon Aug 16, 2004 16:12 UTC Can you please tell me if this picture was taken in DUNGLOE. All are of your pictures are wonderful. Thank you PAT | pchamlis Fri Sep 12, 2003 01:36 UTC An appropriate word for such an outstanding look at Donegal would be "enchanting". What better word for Eire? Love the photo of Altan Lake. | Alain_Smeets Sun Jul 27, 2003 14:27 UTC Great pics, I hope to see some off those lovely places myself soon. | dansak Thu May 22, 2003 20:32 UTC beautiful pictures, congratulations! |
