    Cruise-ship may not enter the very small port of the Devil islands, and small tenderboats have to take the passengers ashore.

    Most cruise-ships just stay for about 4 hours on their way to Rio de Janeiro or back

    For a vacation on the island I have 2 different recommendations:

    1st - the ROUGH way :

    No charges at all !
    Unique Qualities: ...mosquitos, spiders, sharks at your disposal ! - all inclusive !
    Directly on the island, take Papillon's cell or any other - it's your choice...

    NO reservations needed - plenty of vacancies all over the year...

    BUT : NO roomservice & bring your own towels...

    2nd - The SOFT way :

    Ask your travel-agent...
    Unique Qualities: maybe some sharks around the ship - but THEY risk to be found on the ship's menu tomorrow...

    Directions: M/S VISTAFJORD, anchored somewhere around the island...
    Other Contact: Better get a reservation !

    Bring lots of $ $ $ $ $ $ $

    At many places of the island you may still see the poor houses and barracks, where the prisoners had to live.

    Cruiseships will go there during the time of relatively low temperatures...

    ...and still you will realize, what the climate in this island will be like in the real hot time with hot humidity and all sorts of tropical insects.

    Take a walk - many signs will show you places of interest and you may also get an impression,
    what the life on the island was like, with only a few paths to walk in a humid and hot climate

    The beaches look great and tempting, but you better FORGET about swimming !
    Lots of sharks are waiting in these waters...

    These barracks are in a terrible and mostly even dangerous condition.
    Watch every step when entering these old barracks !

    a few hours will be enough to explore the island, but it is absolutely worth it !

    It will be hot & very humid on the islands - one of the reasons, why it was once chosen as a prison by the french government.

    Do not expect great beaches and possibilties to swim...

    A certain number of sharks will be in the bay and waiting for victims.
    THIS was also one of the reasons to make this whole island a prison once
